he Santa Maria Home is a traditional Madeiran house, red-roofed, dark-timbered, and built in the style that defines the old hillside neighbourhoods above Funchal harbour.

It has been in the family for years, furnished the way we like it and maintained to a standard we’d want to find ourselves. The result is something that feels different from a holiday rental: personal, curated, and genuinely lived-in.

The house sits in Santa Maria Maior, one of Funchal’s oldest and most characterful parishes, close enough to the city for restaurants, markets, and the waterfront, quiet enough to hear the birds in the morning. Set back from the road, with a garden at the front and a private pool tucked behind the house, it offers the kind of calm that Madeira promises but not every property delivers.

We open it selectively to guests who appreciate space, stillness, and authenticity, people who come to Madeira to actually feel the island, not just pass through it. If that sounds like you, we’d be glad to have you here.
